I'm a big fan of Ghost in the Shell. After seeing some of the artwork by Masamune Shirow I was intrigued from the start. And I really enjoyed the Ghost in the Shell Movies: Ghost in the Shell, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence.
So just the other day, when Amazon was selling the Stand Alone Complex animated series for just $40 bucks, I kind of had no choice but to buy it. Literally, I was not free to choose.
I've watched through about 8 episodes so far, and it is a very fun show. [editorial aside] By fun, the writer is intending to say that it is a believable, almost frighteningly realistic portrayal of what life in the not-to-distant future can become as we integrate machines, technology and the need for ever-increasing amounts of information into our daily lives and rituals; this series explores the fascinating ways in which we lose our humanity to technology, and the even more fascinating ways in which we find it again. As a good example of this, check out episode two of S.A.C., "Runaway Evidence."

And yes...I just checked...the first season is still only 40 dollars at Amazon.
